Sanctuary Cities vs. Sanctuary State in Ohio

(Columbus, OH) Making the entire state of Ohio a sanctuary state is the aim of a proposal from State Representatives Dan Ramos, of Lorain, and Stephanie Howse, of Cleveland. The two lawmakers have invited advocates to join them at the statehouse this morning to make the official announcement. They're calling it a bill to preserve the spirit of America in the Buckeye State.

Meantime, Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel is pushing for criminal penalties against the leaders of so-called "sanctuary cities." The Cleveland-area Republican and a Dayton-area lawmaker are promoting a bill that would send city officials to jail for injuries or deaths caused by illegal immigrants in sanctuary cities. Mandel is touting the bill as he mounts a U.S. Senate campaign.
