The family of Ashli Babbitt, the woman who was shot by Capitol Police during the Jan. 6th riot at the U.S. Capitol, are suing for $10 million.
The 35-year-old Babbitt, an Air Force Veteran, was shot by an officer while trying to climb through the window of a barricaded door that led to the House Chamber. The Justice Department has said it will not file criminal charges against the officer who shot Babbitt.
An attorney for the family claims that Babbitt was unarmed and should not have been shot.
Five total deaths have been linked to the events of Jan. 6th.
