Daycares in Canada are taking measures to protect children. Many centers are installing video cameras that allow parents to check in on their children in real-time.
Daycare providers like Richelle Louch, who runs “A Beautiful Mind Junior Kindergarten,” says working under "Big Brother" isn't “a big deal at all.” Louch says the cameras ease parent's anxiety about leaving their kids and keep her accountable. The footage also allows her to justify removing unruly children from her program.
Not everybody is happy about cameras being used, Alyson Schafer says cameras give parents reason to overstep their boundaries, with parents being able to check in on children at camp or at school, it causes micromanaging.
