The story of the "Chrichton Leprechaun" remains to this day THE BEST St. Patrick's Day story EVER told.
To start, you should know that Chrichton is a suburb of my hometown, Mobile, Alabama. In 2006, NBC-TV affiliate WPMI-TV did a story on reports that a leprechaun had been spotted in a tree. That video now has more than 30-million views!
On March 14, 2006, crowds were gathering near Chrichton after a possible leprechaun sighting. WPMI-TV reporter Brian Johnson was dispatched to investigate. From there, the story "sort of snowballed." When the TV crew arrived, anchor Scott Walker later recalled, multiple witnesses reported seeing the leprechaun in a tree. Nina Thomas-Brown, a resident, submitted a crudely drawn sketch of the leprechaun -- perhaps the best evidence yet. The story contains classic catch-phrases lie, "It could be a crackhead" and "special leprechaun flute."
It's definitely a MUST WATCH for St. Patrick's Day every year.
