In what should be the strangest goal in NHL history, the St. Louis Blues put one in the net last night with a ricochet off a referee. The Blues' Robert Bortuzzo fired a puck into the corner, unintentionally clipping referee Tim Peel and slipping behind the goalie. Unfortunately for Peel, the puck caught him in an most unfortunate area.
Needless to say, Peel went to the locker room and was done for the night.
The worst part is the goal didn't even count. The NHL has a rule that says you can't score off a referee deflection, which is garbage. Officials should be part of the field of play, just like in football.
