This plan is crazy enough it just might work

The Left continues to trample truth in the Kavanaugh confirmation process, because truth is not the Democrats' main concern here.

Yesterday, Christine Ford, the woman accusing Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her when they were teenagers in 1982, finally agreed to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Democrats have used Ford's accusation to run a textbook delay campaign. Senator Chuck Grassley has bent over backwards to give Christine Ford the opportunity to testify, yet Democrats have managed to make him one of the chief villains anyway, accusing him of trying to ram through the vote on Kavanaugh.

But Democrats have known about Ford's accusation for two months. They've had plenty of time to ask Kavanaugh about it and plenty of time to get Ford to testify. Despite that, Grassley – who originally scheduled today for the Ford and Kavanaugh testimony – agreed to delay the testimony until Thursday.

That means the media now has the better part of another week to editorialize about Ford as a sad victim and Kavanaugh as a teenage sexual predator – even though there is no way to prove Ford's allegation. It's an all-out political campaign by the Left to try to sway one or two Senators who are supposedly on the fence, to derail Kavanaugh's confirmation.

It's such a crazy, desperate plan that it just might work.

There's really no upside for Republicans here.

There's really no upside for Republicans here, because barring some Perry Mason-like, last-second, smoking-gun, indisputable evidence in Thursday's hearing, the testimony won't change anything. Kavanaugh will get confirmed along party lines. But it will turn Ford into a #MeToo martyr, and provide rocket fuel for the November election.

And ultimately, that's what this is about. Democrats don't care about ruining Kavanaugh's reputation. They don't need Ford's allegation to be true – they just need enough voters to believe it might be true, associate Republicans with hatred for women, and then surf a giant blue wave to years of blissful progressive power.
