Toledo city council is considering new legislation that would affect area rental property owners. The legislation known as pay-to-stay would allow renters behind in their rent avoid eviction by paying before an eviction notice is filed and a court judgement is handed down. The ordinance is sponsored by councilpersons Komives, Melden, and Gadus but is not at this time supported by Cherry, and Moline.
A spokesperson for Toledo's Property Investors Network says council is finding a solution for a problem that at this point doesn't exist.
