Yesterday the FBI arrested and charged four sitting Toledo city council persons with bribery and extortion. A fifth person, attorney Keith Mitchell was still being sought, is also expected to be charged with aiding one of the council people.
Those arrested yesterday are Tyrone Riley (D) District 1, Yvonne Harper (D) District 4, Larry Sykes (D) at large, and Gary Johnson (D) at large. All have been on council for a number of years and Johnson recently ran in the Democratic primary for Lucas County Sheriff, losing to Mike Navarre.
All four were released on bond this afternoon but will retain their seats on city council unless they resign. Michael Ashford the current head of the Lucas County Democrat Party suggests he would like them to resign so he can name new appointments and get about the business of the city. When asked this afternoon upon release none of the four said they would resign and in fact Sykes when asked responded "for what".
Should the 4 resign their council seats? WEDNESDAY 60 MINUTE POLL
