The University of Cincinnati has voted to remove the name of former Red's owner Marge Schott from its' baseball stadium following an online petition and outcry from social justice warriors. “We cannot remain silent or indifferent when it comes to prejudice, hate or inequity,” UC president Neville Pinto said during the board of trustees meeting as he recommended Schott’s name be removed. The board however had remained silent all these years since the stadium was built in 2006.
The foundation named in her and her husband's honor had given UC $2 million for the project. Although the foundation has not requested the money be returned, should UC continue to play baseball in a stadium built with what they feel is racist money?
