An Ohio firm has come up with a very unique way for you to remember your loved ones, remove their tattoos after they've died. Yep. After you're dead this company, Save My Ink Forever, in Northfield, OH has come up with a proprietary way to work with a number of local funeral homes to provide the service. Following the death of a loved one the tattoo is surgically cut out of the body at the funeral home within 72 hours of the person passing and this can be done before or after embalming.
Then, the removed inked-flesh is treated "with the same dignity and respect as with any funeral preparation process," according to Kyle.
Save My Ink Forever will only turn the removed tattoo into a framed remembrance piece. The family draws the line at facial and genital tattoos, and will only frame the final product as a wall piece. Kyle Sherwood says they have received and denied requests for the flesh to be turned into things like lampshades or book covers.
