Over the weekend we were once again treated to wall to wall coverage of a mass shooting, this time two, one in El Paso and another just a few hours later in Dayton,OH. In both it appears the shooter had access to a high powered rifle and extra cartridges of ammunition. The shooter in Dayton wore body armor and headphones as he began shooting outside a popular night spot frequented by students from Wright State and University of Dayton. In El Paso the shooter began shooting outside a shopping center and then entered a Wal-Mart. In both cases the shooter appears to be young and with some agenda especially in the case of the El Paso shooter.
Politicians have called on President Trump to stop his hateful rhetoric, while the president said it is a problem of mental health. Still others are blaming gun laws that allow people to own the type of weapons used in the shootings. Is there anything that you can do, that your elected officials can do, or is this the new normal?
