Athletic wear company NIKE had plans to sell a new tennis shoe in time for the Fourth of July that included a replica of the Betsy Ross flag on the heel. Former NFL player Colin Kaepernick complained that the flag evoked the days of slavery in the United States and social media picked up on the controversy and magnified it. NIKE has now decided they will not sell the shoe, and that has created even more problems for the company. One state already has said they will revoke tax incentives they had planned to give the company for a new facility and other celebrities have decided to boycott the NIKE brand.
