The state of California is considering a law that would allow convicted felons to serve on juries once their time has been served. According to the bill's sponsor allowing them to serve jury duty would present a fair cross section of California communities. Currently in California felons are allowed to vote after being released from prison. It's already illegal to exclude because of race, gender, or national origin.
Our prison system is supposed to rehabilitate and if you believe that then why should we continue to punish those who have done their time? Is California on to something here?
