Dick Dale, King Of The Surf Guitar, passed away this weekend after years of poor health. Dale was 81 and had suffered from diabetes, kidney disease, and cancer for the last twenty years. He first came to prominence in the 60's when he upped the reverb oh his guitar while playing a song learned from his Lebanese father. Dale started playing it with a drum beat feel instead of the show tempo of the original version. His group Dick Dale And The Del Tones had one huge hit, Miserlou. Dale worked with Fender on developing guitars and amplifiers over the years.
