Hundreds of people made it out to the corner of Secor and Alexis Friday night for caroling at the Toledo Christmas Weed. Santa Claus was there along with people dressed as reindeer, elves, and even a Grinch or Two. But there were no Grinches when it came to Christmas spirit.
Folks were passing out free donuts, hot chocolate, and Christmas cards to the gathered crowd and those driving by. Drivers honked their support as they traveled through the intersection where the crowd was gathering before the 5pm start.
By the unofficial start hundreds were ready to sing at the top of their lungs to whatever Christmas favorites we called out. An impromptu band formed of three brass players and a violinist. No one had lyrics so we just did the best we could as you'll hear in the videos.
It wasn't about style though or carrying a tune, it was about sharing the Christmas spirit with other Toledoans who have adopted this little weed as a symbol this year of the holiday.
Thanks to everyone who came out and sang, I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
