Saturday afternoon 1370 WSPD welcomed the Wounded Warriors Amputee Softball Team back to Toledo for its' third visit to the Glass City. The WWAST played three games at Mercy Fields and walked away with three victories for the afternoon. Teams made up of Toledo Police Department, veterans and celebrities, and the Sylvania Senior Softball league all lost to the WWAST.
Monies raised help fund a summer KidsCamp run by the WWAST specifically for children who have prosthetic devices. The players mentor the kids not only in softball but in how to deal with the adversity that comes from missing a limb.
A check for $20,000 was presented at the end of the games.
This is the third time the Sylvania Senior Softball League and its' members have arranged for the team to visit.
