In his first speech to HUD staff members Dr Ben Carson referred to slaves as "immigrants who came here in the bottom of slave ships". As expected the twitterverse exploded with reactions. Dr. Carson later appeared on a radio show and explained that he meant that slaves were "involuntary immigrants" brought here without permission.
Finally last night in a Facebook post Dr Carson explained that the immigrant narrative and the slave narrative are two different experiences.
