Cleveland Again Looking For Police HQ Site

Cleveland - The City of Cleveland is once again looking for a site for the city's new police headquarters, which will replace the current HQ that's part of the Justice Center complex.

During the Jackson administration, the city had considered buying the former Plain Dealer building on Superior at East 18th, and then settled on a new site off the Opportunity Corridor at East 75th Street. Now, even though the Bibb administration isn't giving up on the Opportunity Corridor site a Request For Proposals (RFP) is being posted to see if a better site is available.

Reasons for searching for a new site include the changing economy, the real estate market, and the rising cost of building materials.

The space must be in the City of Cleveland, within a 2.5-mile radius of Cleveland City Hall and close to freeway access with space for secure parking for 450 passenger cars. The Cleveland Division of Police must be the sole occupant of the facility.
