The Toledo Zoo board has voted unanimously to accept a staff recommendation that the renewal request for the next ballot be lower than the current 0.75 mills. When the levy was last on the ballot that had also been a reduction, from 0.86 mills. This time around voters will instead be voting on a five year request for 0.65 mills which means a savings of around $2.97 annually to the owner of a $100,000 home.
Elaine Canning, quoted in the Blade, said "this is an overtaxed community, and this sends a great message that we are being great financial stewards of the zoo's money."
If the lower levy passes how will you spend your approximately $2.97 savings?
