According to an article in today's Blade newly elected Sheriff Mike Navarre wants townships which currently don't pay for patrols to start paying by January 2023 or face loss of patrols. In a letter to five townships in Western Lucas County Navarre wrote “I believe that the Lucas County Sheriff's Office can provide the best service at the most economical cost. I would ask that each of the townships give serious consideration to this issue." At this time only two of the Western townships pay a fee for service,Springfield and Monclova.
Should townships pay for Sheriff's protection above and beyond what monies they already pay to the county?
