Governor Mike DeWine, as part of his latest budget, wants to spend $50 million to pay for a promotional campaign to encourage people to move to Ohio. According to DeWine “As people are packing up and leaving the coasts looking for more affordable places to live, more affordable places to locate their businesses and live their lives, we want to invite them here.”
There's no doubt the state has much to offer, pro sports teams, college football powerhouses, a state park system, access to Lake Erie, and a bustling nightlife in Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati. But are the taxes and new fees included in the budget enough to keep people away. And did the Governor himself chase people away with his strict guidelines during the pandemic?
