American Airlines Will Deliver Bottles Of Wine Right To Your Doorstep

Travelers who purchased American Airlines' "Flagship" tickets were treated to specially curated bottles of wine during their international or transcontinental flights. Now, thanks to a new program launched by the airline, customers can have those wines delivered right to their doorstep.

The American Airlines Flagship Cellars program allows anybody to order a single bottle of wine, or for $99 per month, they can sign up for a monthly subscription, which includes three bottles of wine. American Airlines AAdvantage members will earn two miles for every dollar they spend.

The wines come from all over the world and are hand-selected by experts. Their choices are whittled down by an award-winning master sommelier who chooses their favorites in a blind taste test. American Airlines employees then take the recommendations and decide which wines will make the cut for the Flagship Cellars program.

"For wine lovers around the world, wine provides a deeper connection to the places they enjoy visiting," said Alison Taylor, Chief Customer Officer at American. "We created Flagship Cellars to provide more ways for customers to enjoy our Flagship wine even if they aren't flying in one of our premium cabins."

American is hoping to bring in between $40,000 and $50,000 in the first three months of the year. The airline said the program is less about bringing in revenue and more about giving customers a chance to experience some of the perks they would get flying in premium cabins.

"Though revenue is important, Flagship Cellars is moreso a way of engaging with customers, even when they are not traveling with us," a spokesperson told CNN. "It also gives them a taste of what you can enjoy in Flagship First or Flagship Business."
