Technical And Service Workers Approve Deal With Mercy Health

TOLEDO, Ohio - A nearly four week strike has ended for technical and service unit workers at Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center.

WTOL 11 reports nearly two-thirds of the workers that walked off the job on May 6 will return to work this week. The technical and service unit workers voted Sunday to ratify a proposal from Mercy Health, ending their labor dispute. Striking nurses still have not reached a deal.

In a statement, Mercy Health says the agreement provides pay raises while addressing workers' concerns about on-call hours and healthcare benefits. The company says it is now working to get workers back on schedules for this week.

The RN Unit continues their strike, with no additional talks scheduled between Mercy Health and the UAW. The company's statement said the RN Unit is represented by a different UAW local than the technical and service units.
