Fate of TARTA Sales Tax Plan to Be Decided

(Toledo, OH) The Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority has a busy month ahead to beat a levy deadline.

TARTA needs approval from seven member communities this month to add Lucas County as a member in order to put a sales tax on the November ballot. The transit agency wants to change its funding stream from a property tax.

Ottawa Hills is expected to be the first to vote tonight on the proposal. Sylvania Township trustees will hear from TARTA's leadership Tuesday night, but there likely won't be a vote until next week.

Sylvania and Maumee are expected to vote on the proposal next Monday, followed by other member communities. Toledo City Council likely will vote last at the end of the month, about a week before the levy deadline.
