Lead Pipes Being Replaced in Rossford, Northwood

(Wood Co., OH) The Northwestern Water and Sewer District is looking to get the lead out.

Letters recently went out to more than 300 water customers in Northwood and Rossford about a project to replace service lines containing lead. A Sandusky contractor will replace the water lines containing lead in an area bounded by Oregon, Tracy, and Wales Roads.

The Northwestern Water and Sewer District is spending nearly $900,000 on the replacement water lines, but emphasizes only one percent of its 19,000 customers are serviced by lines containing lead.

Most of the work will happen in public rights of ways, with almost no chance private property contains lines with lead.  A low-interest loan from the Ohio EPA is being used to cover project costs.
