Demi Lovato Defends Herself Over Criticism For Vulgar Prank

Demi Lovato took to Twitter to defend herself on Sunday, June 3, after sharing during a candid Q+A a prank she pulled on her security guard Max Lea.

While taking a break from the European leg of her tour, the "Tell Me You Love Me" songstress engaged in a 45-minute Twitter Q&A session where she answered random questions from fans including what’s the "funniest prank" she’s ever pulled.

"I hired a lady of the night in Vegas and sent her to Max's hotel room to surprise him," Lovato, 25, shared in a since-deleted tweet. "She walked into his room without permission and grabbed him in his 'area' and he freaked the f--k out hahahaha."

Fans, however, didn’t think it was funny and some accused her of orchestrating sexual harassment and assault with the by pulling off the “disgusting prank.”

"I swear I could tweet something about craving jelly beans and it would offend someone,” Lovato wrote. "For all of those coming at me rn, listen to the lyrics of Warrior and maybe you'll have more compassion for someone who made a simple mistake. Of all people I know about sexual abuse. You don’t have to educate me."

Lovato has since deleted the original tweet and also apologized for the remark. "So sorry if anyone was offended," she concluded.

In 2013 track “Warrior” Lovato alludes to being a “survivor” of sexual assault.

"This is a story that I've never told. I gotta get this off my chest to let it go," she sings. "I need to take back the light inside you stole. You're a criminal, and you steal like you're a pro."
