(Toledo, OH) The Westgate Elder Beerman is among dozens of stores set to close.
One of Ohio's more iconic retailers is shutting its doors, costing hundreds of jobs up and down the I-75 corridor.
A federal bankruptcy judge will be asked today to approve the sale of Elder-Beerman's parent company to a liquidator. Parent company Bon-Ton Stores told employees Tuesday that its stores will be shuttered within 12 weeks.
Elder-Beerman also has five other stores that will be affected. Stores at the Woodland Mall in Bowling Green, Findlay and Sandusky will be liquidated, while Elder-Beerman already planned to close stores in Defiance and Adrian later this month.
