Parents May Get Fined For Kids' Curfew Violations

(Toledo, OH) Toledo City Council is considering a crackdown on curfew violations.

A proposed ordinance unveiled Tuesday would set curfew at 9 p.m. for anyone under 16 and 11 p.m. for 16- and 17-year-olds.  Parents whose kids are out past curfew could face fines of up to $500.

City councilman Larry Sykes is pushing the plan, where supporters say a strictly-enforced curfew would help keep children out of trouble and reduce violent crimes.

Toledo police recently rolled out a plan to reduce gun violence through data-driven, targeted neighborhood enforcement, saturation patrols, and more community policing.
