Durbin Calls on Trump to Sit Down and Resolve Government Shutdown

Democratic Senator Dick Durbin says Republicans don't need to lower the voting threshold from 60 votes to 51 to get the government reopened.

That's a process called the "nuclear option."

The Illinois senator tells ABC's "This Week" that "bipartisan conversations are going on right now."

The Senate minority leader says Democrats and Republicans are in good faith trying to find common ground and put this behind the country.

Durbin says at the end of the day, President Trump needs to "to step up and lead in this situation."

Senate Republicans and Democrats failed to reach an agreement before last week's deadline to fund the government, leading to a shutdown.
