Health Assessment Shows Rising Suicides, Obesity

(Toledo, OH)    Depression, suicide and obesity appear to be the major barriers to the overall health of Lucas County.

Results of the Lucas County Health Assessment released Monday, show 6,000 people attempted suicide in the past year, including four-percent of children in grades six through 12.

Obesity rates remained high among adults and kids, but the county's smoking rate is falling.

Lucas County officials will meet next month to begin crafting a health improvement plan with the study as their guide.
