(Toledo, OH) The public can hear more about the proposed new Lucas County jail from backers and opponents tonight.
Lucas County Commisisoners and the sheriff have agreed to meet with a group of South Toledo neighbors opposed to the proposed location for a new Lucas County lock-up.
Commissioners recently announced the purchase of 30 acres of beanfield along Angola Road, including what they call a "buffer zone" between nearby industry and the busy intersection of Airport Highway and Byrne Road. But opponents say it's still too close to neighborhoods and a Metropark for their comfort.
That meeting starts at 6 p.m. at the Reynolds Corners branch library, where the question-and-answer session could turn into a heated public debate.
