Health Officials Warn Against Play In Flood Water

(Toledo, OH)  Northwest Ohio health officials are warning the public to stay away from the water during beach trips this week.

Flood water is flowing down rivers into Lake Erie, carrying the contamination of overloaded sewers and runoff from farms. People are urged to check the Ohio BeachGuard website to learn more about bacteria buildup in the lake.

Meantime, scientists say the flooding will provide more food for harmful algal blooms on Lake Erie.
