(Bowling Green, OH) There's an effort under way to make Northwest Ohio part of a national bike route.
There won't be any new bike routes built in the region as a result of the effort, but designated bike routes will get special signage as part of a national or regional connected bike route. For example, U.S. Bike Route 25 would run from Alabama to northern Michigan, following a bike trail through Toledo, across the Maumee River into Perrysburg, then south to Bowling Green all the way down to North Baltimore and Hancock County.
Ohio would establish an east-west bike trail, and others would be regional. The Wood County park district is the latest to join the effort, which now spans 23 states.
