We carry so much information on our cell phones now that some states are considering going to a form of digital drivers license. The state of Utah will begin using one next year along with Iowa and Florida. Five states already have a mobile drivers license program saying that it allows the user more privacy when it comes to releasing information like address when only age is needed for a purchase. States that use this type of program recommend that users still carry their physical driver's license as a backup, "Most people want some kind of a hard token for their identity, but I don't know how long that will last," according to the Executive Director of World Privacy Forum, Pamela Dixon.
Opponents worry that digital licenses would be too easily hacked whereas now you would have to actually lose your license for the information to be used.
