A recent apartment fire has left families displaced and without any possessions. A local company and The Toledo Buffalo Soldiers are teaming up to help. Kevin Spitler of the Toledo Hemp Center heard about those who lost everything in the recent apartment fire on Cresthaven and decided to do something to help. At the same time The Toledo Buffalo Soldiers were thinking there was a way they could help also. The two have hooked up and with help from the local Red Cross chapter will be "adopting" some of the families in need. The Toledo Hemp Center will donate 10% of all purchases from Saturday April 3 sales in store or online to the fund set up to provide relief. The Toledo Buffalo Soldiers with donations and funds on hand will "adopt" the families and help provide item they express a need for. Toledo Hemp Center plans to donate 10% of their total sales on Saturday April 3, 2021 to help the Toledo Area Buffalo Soldiers adopt some, if not all, of the families whose lives were destroyed by the catastrophic event. Toledo Hemp Center owner Kevin Spitler explains “This is the type of event that is life changing to those involved. We felt it was our obligation as a community business to step up and help those affected.” He continues, “We hope this brings people in to find relief and at the same time help those in need. Together we can make a difference.” He finishes, “I hope this brings other compassionate businesses on board as we need all the assistance we can get”. Toledo Buffalo Soldiers, a local organization known well for their community involvement, has once again stepped up to help those affected. TBS President resident Earl Mack mentions, “There are at least 14 families that were displaced due to the fire. Our mission would include placing those families without renters insurance up for “adoption”. Eligible families would provide us with 5 cost reasonable wishes for their family needs. It may be clothing items, household goods, furniture etc. The person or organization adopting a family would grant 1 and up to 5 of the family’s wishes. In addition, each family would be provided $500.00 to assist in any other matters at the family’s discretion.
