The Toledo budget for 2020 has been passed by city council with a unanimous vote and is $12Million higher than the 2019 budget. The vote comes two weeks before voters head to the primary to vote on an increase in the temporary 3/4% payroll tax.
Along with the operating budget council also approved a $53.3 million 2020 capital improvement budget. It includes $20.8 million toward new projects, about $19.3 million in debt service payments, and a transfer of $8 million to the general fund to balance the budget.
The mayor has promised if the increase passes on March 17 there will be no more transfers in future budgets.
