UAW Releases Agreement to End GM Strike; Deal Includes Closure Of Lordstown

DETROIT, Michigan - Details of the proposed deal to end the month-long strike against GM were released Thursday by the United Auto Workers.

WTOL 11 reports the tentative agreement includes retirement incentives and buyouts, pay raises and a new signing bonus.

The deal also includes the closure of three U.S. plants in Lordstown, Ohio, Warren, Michigan and outside of Baltimore, Maryland. The Lordstown plant ceased operations back in March.

The four-year agreement now goes on to officials at the factory level for approval and to then schedule a vote by their members.

Workers have been on strike since September 16 and will remain on the picket lines until the new contract is approved.
