Archdiocese of Detroit Declares War On CYO Sports

Catholic high schools and elementary schools will no longer be permitted to schedule athletics on Sundays in the Archdiocese of Detroit. Archbishop Allen Vigneron says, "In shifting away from the hustle of required sporting activities on Sunday, we will reclaim this holy day and create more time for families to choose activities that prioritize time spent with each other and our Lord."

The Athletic writer Mick McCabe says, "With all due respect: This is idiotic." (click here to read his column)

McCabe, and Fox Sports 1230 morning host Anthony Bellino, joined The Scott Sands Show this week to discuss the Archdiocese's "war on sports" -- click here to listen with our free iHeartRadio app.

Ironically, CYO sports affords many families the opportunity to do something together as a family unit. I wonder if the Archdiocese will also ban their clergy from playing a round of Sunday afternoon golf this summer?
