Lucas County Commissioners Sue Opioid Manufacturers

TOLEDO, Ohio - Lucas County Commissioners have filed a federal lawsuit against a number of prescription opioid manufactures. 

The lawsuit was filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court, Northern District of Ohio against a number of pharmaceutical companies, pharmacies and health care providers. The Lucas County Children Services Board and the Mental Health and Recovery Services Board of Lucas County joined the County Board of Commissioners as plaintiffs in the suit. 

Commissioners say they trying to get compensation for money spent battling the opioid epidemic over the last several years. 

The lawsuit claims that manufacturers mislead doctors and health care providers about the safety of their drugs in treating chronic pain and other conditions.
