Supporters of Issue 11 held a rally as they kicked off their levy campaign on Thursday.
Issue 11 is a renewal levy to support the Mental Health & Recovery Services Board of Lucas County which promotes mental health, training, and life saving services.
Lucas County Sheriff John Tharpe a major supporter of Issue 11 says that the training programs are essential to Lucas County emergency services.
While not a new tax, voter approval of Issue 11 is still required.
Campaign treasurer Jim Stengle has no doubt the issue will receive the support of Lucas County residents due to the effectiveness of the use of the funds with 93 cents of every dollar going towards services.
The MHRSB has recieved over 900-thousand in grants but looks to bolster their finances with the renewal.
