Iconic Actor Burt Reynolds' Ties to Toledo

The Smokey and the Bandit star was known for his classic roles but little known for his role in starting a Toledo tradition.

In 1972, Reynolds was asked to sign an autograph at Tony Packo's by a former co-owner when they couldn't find any paper.  Reynolds picked up a hot dog bun and signed that instead, paving the way for the hundreds of buns signed over the years.

Since then, there have been hundreds of Packo Buns (foam replicas of the actual bun) signed by by numerous musicians, actors, former US presidents and astronauts. 

Reynolds was a big fan of Tony Packo's and made sure to visit the restaurant whenever he was in Toledo.
