Brian Byrd was tapped to be the next fire chief of the Toledo Fire and Rescue Department Tuesday afternoon by Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz. Byrd will take over from Chief Luis Santiago, who will retire on August 3. He is a 30 year veteran of the department, serving most recently as battalion chief.
