Toledo Fire Department chief Luis Santiago will retire after 34 years in the department, he announced in a memo released early Wednesday. His retirement will be effective August 3rd.
Santiago began with the Toledo Fire Department in 1984, working his way up to being named chief in 2011.
Under Santiago's leadership, the Department retained national accreditation, and was class 1 certified by the Insurance Services Office, one of only 45 departments nationwide to receive that designation.
