Richard Cordray was nominated Tuesday by the state's Democrats and Mike DeWine was tapped by Republicans as candidates in November. They met in the attorney general's race in 2010, a contest won by DeWine.

Ohio lawmakers will be able to redraw congressional districts in a more fair way. Voters statewide overwhelmingly approved Issue 1, a bipartisan constitutional amendment that sets rules for redistricting. It was crafted to give the minority party more say in the process and curb the controversial practice of gerrymandering.
