ODOT is seeking public comment about a future project to add two roundabouts along a section of U.S. 20-A and eliminate two other intersections in Swanton and Monclova Townships. Both roundabouts are being designed to help traffic move faster near Toledo Express airport, anticipating a new I-475 interchange.
But the Lucas County engineer warns that's just the start of more roundabouts in western Lucas County. There are ten more roundabouts already funded in the next five years.
Transportation planners call them a safer and speedier way to help traffic flow, even if they are still a confusing concept to many drivers.
