Three Arrested In Massive Fentanyl Bust

(Toledo, OH)  Three people are facing federal charges after a massive fentanyl bust in Toledo.

The group was arrested Tuesday on drug trafficking charges during a hotel raid.  Federal prosecutors say the suspects tried to ship a kilogram of the powerful painkiller to Texas through the U.S. mail.

The amount of fentanyl was enough to kill every person in Toledo three times over, because the painkiller gets mixed in smaller doses with heroin, and now marijuana and sold on the street.

Ohio's attorney general credited quick work on the part of a new group known as the Bulk Cash Smuggling Task Force-- made up of Toledo police, federal homeland security, the border patrol, and prosecutors.

Many of them are now specially trained on the inner workings of the dark web and virtual currency, which is increasingly how synthetic opioids are purchased.
