(Fostoria, OH) A former spark plug plant in Fostoria will see new life, less than a month after closing.
Roppe Holding Company has a purchase agreement in place for the former Autolite plant, with plans to expand beyond its 400 employees at two other factories in Fostoria. The 40-acre site has half-a-million square feet of industrial space, with the company looking at new product lines.
Those future plans have yet to be outlined and there's no word if the expansion means any new jobs in Fostoria. But the holding company has eight different companies under its umbrella, making rubber flooring products, Seneca Millwork, and even a broadcasting arm.
The old AutoLite plant once employed 1,000 people, but just 60 were left in the workforce when the plant closed this month.
