Toledo Weekend Calendar

28 September – (Toledo, OH) Luminous Nights - Luminous Nights Returns To Toledo Zoo. Final preparations are underway for the Toledo Zoo's fall festival of lights. Luminous Nights opens tonight, featuring Asian-style lanterns in the shape of animals and plants and live entertainment. The gates open nightly at 6 p.m. through November Fourth.

28-29 September – (Toledo, OH) Flash Dog Adoption Special – The Lucas County Canine Care & Control will offer a flash adoption special today and Saturday. All dog adoption fees will be reduced to $25 dollars with the required dog license brought down to the same price. All adoptable dogs are spayed or neutered, chipped, vaccinated, and treated for heartworm and parasites. L4C reminds potential adopters to bring everyone in the household to include canines to meet their potential housemates before adopting.

29 September – (Bowling Green, OH) Hockey for Habitat - Celebrity ball hockey to raise money for a cause. Eight Teams are slated to compete in the third annual Hockey for Habitat charity ball hockey tournament at the Bowling Green City Park outdoor hockey rink on Saturday. The event looks to raise thousands of dollars to support the first Habitat for Humanity of Wood County home to be built in Bowling Green. The event will feature retired Walleye great Kyle Rogers, and WTOL meteorologist Ryan Wichman who will participate as Free Agents. The event is scheduled from 9am to 2pm.

29 September – (Swanton, OH) Apples for Everyone Festival – A local orchard is picking apples for donation. Johnston Fruit Farms in Swanton will host their annual "Apples for Everyone festival this weekend. The Saturday event invites people to come pick apples to be donated to stock food banks around the area. The target this year is 200-thousand pounds of apples. The event that runs from 10am to 4 pm will also feature a fall festival with music, hayrides, barbecue, and of course, doughnuts with apple cider.

29 September – (Delta, OH) Apple Dumpling Festival – The downtown Delta event will be this Saturday from 10am to 2pm and will include food venders, crafters, and vendors down Main Street. The event will also have kids games and inflatable, hayrides, and pumpkin painting for families. Taking it To The Streets will also be on hand to collect items for the homeless.

29 September – (Toledo, OH) Joe E. Brown Park Re-Opening Celebration – The City of Toledo will host a re-opening celebration at Joe E. Brown Park this weekend. The Saturday event features a softball scrimmage on the new ball diamond, kids activities, and lawn games for residents. Toledo Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz says that this is a chance for the city to say thank you to neighbors and community members for waiting three years for construction to be completed. The event will take place from 11am to 1pm.

29 September – (Oregon, OH) Team Showman Superheroes Kickin’ Cancer – Superhero sightings scheduled for Saturday. A superhero-themed race and walk to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is scheduled for Saturday at Maumee Bay State Park. The Team Showman Superheroes Kickin' Cancer event will include awards for age categories, overall male and female winners, and prizes for participants who enter the best superhero costume contest. The 7:30am event will also feature door prizes, music, and swag bags for all race goers.

30 September – (Toledo, OH) Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure - The 2018 Komen Toledo Race For the Cure is coming to Downtown Toledo this Sunday. The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure is the world's largest fundraising event for breast cancer. It consists of a series of 5K runs and fitness walks to raise money for breast cancer, to raise awareness of the disease, to celebrate those who have survived breast cancer, and memorialize those who have not. The 25th anniversary race will be in memory of the late Kelli Andres.  **Please join us for our “V. I. Pink” Party in the iHeartMedia Toledo parking lot starting at 7:30 a.m. We’ll have music, food trucks, games, activities, a pop up shop with our exclusive pink iHeart t-shirts, and ALL of your favorite personalities from 92.5 KISS FM, News Radio 1370 WSPD & 92.9 FM, Toledo’s Rock 104.7 WIOT, 101.5 The River, Toledo’s New Country WCKY, 94.9 The Beat, and Toledo’s Fox Sports 1230!
