Internet Cafes to Be Regulated in Toledo

(Toledo, OH) Toledo City Council may put some stricter regulations on Internet cafes later today.

Any business opening as an Internet cafe in the future would be required to obtain a special-use permit from the Toledo city plan commission under new regulations city council is expected to consider at its meeting today.

The stricter regulations would force a public hearing where affected neighbors could have a say before regulators. The new regs came about because of a gaming center proposed along Cherry Street, near Central Catholic High School and St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center.

Both complained about the proposed Internet cafe. Several townships and suburbs passed outright bans on Internet cafes several years ago.
