Road Construction Starts on Inbound AW Trail

(Toledo, OH) Orange barrels are up for the start of major construction on the Anthony Wayne Trail.

Crews will begin rebuilding a bridge over Norfolk-Southern railroad tracks near City Park and Emerald Avenues today.  ODOT officials say the lengthy project will reduce traffic to two lanes in each direction between Western Avenue and Collingwood Boulevard-- and that could cause a bottleneck during the morning commute on the inbound Anthony Wayne Trail for the rest of the summer.

Drivers are urged to prepare for delays in the area or seek a detour.

But the first two weeks in June could get even worse, when one of those detours into downtown will see orange barrels, too-- along Broadway to Summit Street.
